This story started 10 years ago when Rawinala’s social worker was visiting one of the student that did not come to school named Murti. Both of her  eyes are impaired therefore she only could sense dark and light.
When we arrived, we heard that her mother passed away. We can’t find Murti - her younger sister and father there. We tried to gather information from her relatives about them and where they were.
We kept on trying to find them. We got information they moved to slump area near Mangga Dua – Centre of Jakarta. We found her father but Murti and her younger sister did not live with him since his second marriages. He dropped Murti to a scavenger family.
Then we asked his favor to take us to meet Murti as we had planned to take care of Murti at Rawinala. The scavenger who live with Murti didn’t allow to take her even we came with his father. He asked IDR 350.000 to trade Murti. It was for Murti’s living cost for 5 months with him.
We felt so sad with all these conditions. We just realised th truth of what people say about livinge in Jakarta as the metroplolitan place is so hard and cruel. We paid him IDR 350.000 then we took Murti to Rawinala.
First thing we did for Murti is to recover her nutrition needs and train basic skill to take care of her self.
Murti is a teenager girl now. She is a high motivated cheerful girl. Though her academic skill is slow, she has other great talents. She can do house keeping work without other’s (normal people) help, she can play music very well such as drum, angklung, keybord, gendang. Once she even won the first singer for best perfomance in DKI Jakarta at the blind music competition and as the second best performance at national level in Surabaya.
 Now, Murti is studying drum at the faemous music course in Jakarta. She earned this opportunity from one of Rawinala’s volunteer. She dreams to be a famous music teacher. To have a strong character as a blind person is her dream and aloos to be a blessing for other people. It is our responsibility to make her dream come true.
