| The Sibling Gathering: On the 20th August this year, Rawinala hosted its inaugural ‘Sibling Gathering’. The event was organised be the Parents Support Group, and was a huge success. |
The aim of the day was to increase the knowledge of the brothers and sisters of our students at Rawinala, relating to MDVI and the challenges that their siblings face in day-to-day life. The activities held on the day included wearing blindfolds, so that the siblings could gain some understanding of what it is like to be visually impaired, as well as exercises designed to teach the siblings how they could assist their MDVI brother or sister at home.
The event had a wonderful attendance, with around 270 people taking part, including the students of Rawinala, their siblings, parents, and staff of the school. The day was enjoyed by all, and it is hoped that the siblings of our students at Rawinala will be able to apply what they learnt on the day to their interactions at home with their MDVI brother or sister.
